This is as I understand is the first step in a regional solution. I suspect that there will be some type of setup in NG, not necessary Manus Island.

I believe there has to be a similar agreement made with Indonesia.

We take up to 15000 per year. There is nothing wrong in attempting to put in place some type of quandande we take our numbers from the region.

I would also like to see if there is anyway some of the skilled migrants we need come from the pool of refugees. Maybe to keep fairness in the equation, we could take 1 extra unskilled on the top of the queue for every skilled.

There are many cleared for placement in Indonesia. committedommotted to take some, but I believe we haloxeden laxed in bringing those people in.

If we made an agreement with Indonesia to take more, with them making a commitment to take all back that come in boats from there.

I am not suggesting we up the numbers on what we take now.

I just don’t understand how anyone could announce this farce with a straight face. Then again, the previous government seems to have sold my rural region on Sudanese asylum-seekers by talking about their patience in “the queue” and how they came here on planes. They are receiving community support and help – which is great – but other refugee groups (especially Muslims who work at the abattoir) certainly don’t.

I am disgusted and horrified that this Government is being so cruel to a tiny group of desperate people. $292 million to dump 800 people in hell. And what happens with the 801st person?
